Ahead of the midweek clash, their is only one fresh injury concern in David Kingatua while Ambrose Sifuna, Hamid Mohamed and Kevin Omondi are all back in light training

David Kingatua
The midfielder sustained a thigh injury in training and will miss Bullets match.

Geoffrey Ojunga
Ojunga will miss Bullets tie due to illness. The midfielder is out due to malaria.

Kevin Omondi
Custodian Omondi has recovered and resumed light training ahead of time but will bw unavailable on Wednesday.

Ambrose Sifuna
Midfielder Ambrose Sifuna has recovered and resumed light training after being sidelined for a month . The youngster will continue with rehabilitation as he gears towards match fitness

Hamid Mohammed
The midfielder who was down with malaria a fortnight ago but has fully recovered and will be in contention on Wednesday .

SOFAPAKA – RANGERS DRAW IN WUNDANYI

Sofapaka and Posta Rangers played out to one-all draw.

Hansel Ochieng’s goal ten minutes from time was enough to cancel out Brian Marita’s first half strike.

Visitors Posta Rangers kicked off the match the better side and almost scored the opener two minutes into the match. Former Sofapaka forward Timothy Otieno picked a lose ball by Nixon Omondi, but his tap-in lacked enough power for an easy clearance by David Nshimirimana

At the quarter hour mark, Sofapaka had the first chance at goal, David Otieno set through Sébastien Sunday, but the Nigerian attempt went over the bar.

At the half-hour mark, the visitors almost took the lead, but keeper Simon Masaka pulled a decent save from Otieno’s shot.

Five minutes later the mailmen took the lead through Brian Marita. The midfielder tapped in from Sammy Imbuye’s delivery.

Two minutes before break, Joe Waithera almost equalized scores. The midfielder beat Owino Kennedy off the ball, but custodian Samuel Njau punched out the danger.

Upon resumption, coach Odhiambo made a double change bringing on Hansel Ochieng and David Kingatua for Roy Okal and Nixon Omondi. The change added power upfront. Ochieng had his first attempt at goal but his volley went over the bar with Njua well beaten.

At the half-hour mark, Kingatua and Juma combined well but the latter failed to bury an open chance.

Ten minutes later, Said Tsuma came so close to level the scores, the midfielder failed to tap in after keeper Njau failed to handle Lawrence Juma’s hard shot.

Ten minutes from time, super sub Hansel Ochieng restored parity heading in from Alex Imbusia’s perfect delivery.

Against the run of play, Lawrence Juma would have sealed Rangers fate,but the captain hurried to take his shot rolling out for a goal kick

ODHIAMBO HEAPS PRAISES ON OUMA, EYES RANGERS SCALPEL

Odhiambo heaps praise on Ouma, keen on consistency against Rangers.

2009 champions Sofapaka will host mailmen Posta Rangers on Saturday 18th December in round ten FKF-Premier League fixture.

Addressing the club’s media ahead of Saturday’s encounter, head coach Ken Odhiambo is keen on consistency following recent form whilst heaped praise on his assistant David Ouma.

On the teams good performance

I am glad with everyone in the club, especially the players for the good work and character they have shown. It has been a long while since we had such a good run of results, and this means a lot to us. It puts us on a good map with fellow title contenders.

On team preparations

We have had good preparation since I got back. The mood in the camp is fantastic, and the players are yearning for more. The confidence level is a good one for a team that is chasing for the championship.

On consistency

The team has been on some good run, picking ten points from a maximum of twelve, and that means a lot to us. We have the rhythm and we only want to maintain consistency in our matches.

On Rangers clash

The Saturday fixture against Rangers will be a tough encounter. They are on a good run too in the league, and this will offer us a proper test of our resilience. It is a home match, we respect our opponents, but we want to continue with the good run.

On Ouma’s impact

I am so delighted with my assistant Coach David Ouma for the good work he has done while I was away. He is experienced and so cooperative. Ouma has been supportive, we were in constant communication, and I am glad he did so well.

On his feelings being back with the team

It feels good to be back with the club, and I hope to experience more of the good results with the team. Odhiambo concluded.

Kevin Omondi
Keeper Kevin Omondi will be out ahead of Posta Rangers tie due to a hip injury. The custodian sustained the injury against Tusker last weekend.

Sifuna who has been a regular since joining from Division two side Soy United continues with rehabilitation as he gears towards full recovery.

OUMA HAPPY WITH TEAM CHARACTER AFTER TUSKER DRAW

In a closely battled encounter, Tusker and Sofapaka played to a barren draw in round nine of the FKF Premier League fixture.
Addressing the media after the match, assistant coach David Ouma applauded the team for collecting a point on the road against the defending champions. Here is what the gaffer said;

On a point against Tusker
The team has been on some good run in the last four encounters, we hoped to make it four, unfortunately, we shared points today, but I am so happy with the point because we were facing a strong opponent.

On the team play
We went into the match fully aware that we were facing a strong opponent who wanted to bounce back to winning ways. They were definitely going to throw bodies upfront,but am glad we were decent in all departments. I feel we should have done better in our final third, but I am impressed by the players because they followed the instructions and were able to contain pressure.

On his thoughts on recent performance
We played today’s match barely 48 hours from our last encounter in Wundanyi, and to collect a point against the brewers, I would say the team has immensely improved. The character in the squad is commendable and it is one secret that is working for us too.’ Ouma concluded

TUSKER – SOFAPAKA SHARE SPOILS IN RUARAKA

Tusker and Sofapaka played out to a barren draw in an entertaining match at the Ruaraka complex.

In round nine of the FKF Premier League fixture, Tusker began the match on a high tempo for an early opener, Boniface Muchiri dribbled past David Otieno but his final attempt had too much power rolling out for a goal kick.

At the quarter hour Sofapaka had the first opportunity of the match through Joe Waithira. The forward pounced on a loosely cleared ball but his effort missed the target from a close range

Ten minutes later, the host had another chance at goal, Daniel Sakari and Boniface Muchiri combined upfront but keeper Omondi was well-placed making the important save.

Five minutes after the half-hour mark, Lawrence Juma came close to put Sofapaka ahead but his volley missed the target with keeper Matasi off his line.

Five minutes before break, another goal-scoring opportunity to give BatotoBaMungu the lead went begging after Titus Achesa failed to tap in from Nixon Omondi’s teasing delivery.

On resumption, Sofapaka returned the more aggressive side upfront, David Otieno delivered a long ball to Joe Waithera, the forward in a quick reaction looped the ball past Matasi but his effort hit the crossbar much to the host’s relief

At the hour mark, the brewers had an open chance to take the lead, Apolo Otieno’s solo effort troubled Omondi, but the custodian was keen punching the ball out for safety.

Ten minutes later coach David Ouma made a double change, bringing on Hansel Ochieng and Alex Imbusia for Nixon Omondi and Joe Waithera to add strength at goal. Ouma’s move turned fruitful with more attack play upfront, Ochieng almost broke the stalemate but his effort was cleared off the line by skipper Asike.

Against the run of play, substitute John Njuguna almost pulled a last minute win for the host but Kevin Omondi reacted in time to save the danger as the two teams settled for a point each.

The speedy winger returns after a one-month spell on the sidelines. Imbusia sustained the injury in a 1-0 win over Leopards and has since recovered from the setback

Ambrose Sifuna
Sifuna who has been a regular since joining from Division two side Soy United continues with rehabilitation as he gears towards full recovery.

Fredrick Odhiambo
The custodian picked up an ankle injury during a training session and will be out for the third game as he nears back to full training.

TUSKER VS SOFAPAKA MATCH PREVIEW

Ahead of the fixture on Sunday, BatotoBaMungu go into the match on a good run after three win spree while our counterparts the brewers will be seeking to begin their title defense after bowing out of the CAF Confederations cup competition. Sofapaka are eighth on the table while the defending champions are placed 15th with a seven-point difference.

A tight rivalry has been witnessed between the two teams. Since promotion to the premier league, a total of 27 matches has been played between the two sides,Sofapaka and Tusker won eleven and six matches respectively while ten other fixtures ended in a draw.

OCHIENG DELIGHTED AT WAZITO WIN

Sofapaka beat Wazito 2-1 in a mid-week fixture to make it two wins in a row for the first time in a long while.

In a closely contested encounter at the Wundanyi Stadium, Hansel Ochieng’s strike ten minutes from time earned Sofapaka a hard-fought win.

Speaking to the club’s media after the win, Ochieng expressed delight on opening his goal-scoring account for the club. Here is what Ochieng said;

On scoring the winning goal
It is definitely a good feeling for me because the goal earned the team the maximum points. Importantly I am happy because it has been a while being on the score sheet.

On the match
It was a tough game especially facing a strong opponent in Wazito. They gave us a good encounter, nevertheless am glad we had a strong mentality. We had set a target and it was important for us to win today.

The forward says win over Wazito is a confidence booster

We did not have the best start but since our game against Leopards, we have been able to win our matches. Wednesday’s victory has increased our confidence levels and I believe it is the start of many more to come.

Ochieng concludes by noting that team cohesion as a key factor to improved results

Winning entails every little detail and for us i believe it has been the team cohesion. We have been patient in and it is finally paying off for us. If we continue with the same spirit then we shall have a successful season.

SOFAPAKA CLAWS WAZITO IN WUNDANYI

Sofapaka beat Wazito 2-1 in a thrilling encounter in Wundanyi Stadium.

In round 8 of the FKF-Premier League fixture, host Sofapaka began the match on a high note in quest for an early lead. Sébastien Sunday came close to open scores at the quarter hour mark but his final ball was too powerful going out for a goal kick

Ten minutes later Wazito had a real threat on goal but Cliff Nyakea’s effort missed the target with keeper well beaten.

At the half hour mark Joe Waithira had a decent play with Lawrence Juma but the latter’s final ball was deflected back to play by Johnstone Omurwa. Six minutes later, Said Tsuma had his powerful header that was goal bound punched out for safety by custodian Bashir Ssekagya.

At the stroke of halftime, Lawrence Juma broke the deadlock to take the lead going into the break.

Wazito began the second half the more lively side and it did not take long to draw level through former Sofapaka man Ellie Asieche.

At the hour mark Francis Kimanzi led side came close to level scores but Musa Masika hurriedly took his shot missing the target by a narrow margin.

Twenty minutes from time Wazito came calling yet again through Amos Assembeka, the midfielder’s low drive troubled Omondi but the keeper made the much needed save.

Ten minutes from time, substitute Hansel Ochieng scored an important goal that earned the host the maximum points.

The win moves the team up on the log to sixth position.
