SOFAPAKA FALLS 2-1 TO NZOIA FC

Nzoia Sugar beat Sofapaka 2-1 in a Betking Premier League match played on Saturday at Sudi Stadium.

Hosts Nzoia Sugar scored two quick goals in the first half through Leonard Kasembeli and Erick Otieno taking the game to a breather with host in the lead .

In the second half two quick change of Paul Kiongera and Sammy Imbuye impacted urgency in our attack, Kiongera’s cross found on rushing Lawrence Juma who found his way past Elvis Ronack to head in our consolation goal.

In a bad afternoon, captain of the day Lawrence Juma was sent off with two minutes to go. Sofapaka will next take on Nairobi City Stars in Wundanyi.

LATEST FROM THE MANAGER ON NZOIA SUGAR TO TIE

Sofapaka will take on Nzoia Sugar in a Betking Premier League encounter at Sudi Stadium.

Ahead of the tie our manager Ken Odhiambo faced the club’s media and discussed on the team’s preparation, Nzoia tie and injury concerns.

This what the boss said:

On team preparation
Our preparations have been up to per in the last couple of days there is an immense improvement on the players confidence and desire to keep winning at that’s a huge plus for us in terms of our preparations thus I feel we are well prepared and ready for Saturday’s tie away in Sudi .

On whether it will be a tough match against Nzoia
Definitely yes we are facing a strong side who have given us hard times in the recent past. They have been impressive while at home thus this will be a tough match for us.

On whether it’s a must win tie
Yes we want to build on a progressive consistency especially after the last two good results. Nzoia is a solid side and playing at home gives them some added advantage but we go into the match with a sole aim to pick maximum points.

On injury concerns:
We have some injury concerns; we will miss the services of club Captain Elli Asieche who is out due to a groin injury. Equally we shall do without the duo of David Simiyu and Stephen Okola but we are pleased to have Isaac Mitima back with us.

SOFAPAKA CLAWS MATHARE UNITED

Sofapaka Football Club beat Mathare United 4-2 in a Betking Premier League match.

In a match played on Saturday afternoon at Wundanyi Stadium, Lawrence Juma’s hatrick and Nixon Omondi’s first half strike earned Batoto Ba Mungu the second win of the season .

Sofapaka were the better side in the first half, three quick goals ensured an advantage going into the break. On resumption Daniel Otieno and Chris Ochieng pulled two quick goals for the Slum boys but captain of the day Lawrence Juma wasn’t done, substitute Paul Kiongera set Juma through and he made no mistake slotting in the fourth of the day and a hatrick to his name.

Next on our fixture, we Sofapaka will take on Nzoia Sugar.

Rwandan centre back Isaac Mitima will yet again miss Mathare clash. The defender however has continued with rehabilitation and light training and should be ready for Nzoia clash.

COACH KEN ON MATHARE UNITED

Sofapaka Football Club will play host to Mathare United on Sunday in a Betking Premier League match.

Ahead of the match, coach Ken Odhiambo faced the club’s media and this what the coach had to say:

On facing Mathare United:
It’s going to be one entertaining clash against Mathare, they have a good side with some top signings and of course they do play some good football thus they will give us a good test tomorrow.

On team preparations:
We’ve had some good preparation towards the match. The players have been pushing themselves out and they show much desire to win.

On whether Tusker match is a good confidence builder:
Definitely yes, we were far in terms of confidence and the Tusker draw was a huge confidence boost. I feel the players are getting back to full confidence and I believe this will help us moving forward.

On whether Mathare tie is a must win encounter.
Certainly, yes we want to build on the Tusker draw. We will be at home and we want to win since our winning rate hasn’t been good, playing at home comes with it’s own pressure and we going for maximum points.

The match will be played on Saturday at Wundanyi Stadium.

KIBWAGE ON TUSKER DRAW AND MATHARE UNITED TIE

Captain Kibwage reflects on tusker draw and talks on Mathare United tie.

Batoto Ba Mungu picked a crucial point on the road in a tough outing against on form Tusker side.

In a match played at the Kasarani Annex Stadium, captain Elli Asieche’s first half volley earned Batoto Ba Mungu a crucial point putting an end to a poor run of results.

Reflecting on weekends draw, club assistant Captain Michael Kibwage has termed the point a positive result and a confidence booster moving into future matches.

“Sunday’s match was way much better than the previous opening four encounters. We played to instructions, there was hunger and commitment in all departments.”

“I strongly believe we deserved maximum points out of the match but we welcome the one point since we had come from a loss.”

“The point is a strong confidence booster as we head into future matches and I believe going into Mathare United clash and with the kind of game we had against Tusker I believe we shall pick our first full points for the new year at home.”
