Boost for Baraza as Echesa, Odour return from injuries

2009 Kenyan premier league (KPL) champions, Sofapaka football club, will go into the weekend action with nearly a full-fit squad. Batoto Ba Mungu will clash with Thika United at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru county on Sunday, August 6th, starting at 2:00pm, before paving way for another KPL match pitting AFC leopards and Bandari.

John Baraza, who will be in full charge of the team in the absence of the head coach Sam Ssimbwa, is boosted with the return of captain Hillary Echesa and striker cum midfielder Micheal Odour. The duo were among those who were previously sidelined and missed the midweek clash with Muhoroni youth due to injuries and are back in training, a thing that will aid coach Baraza’s selection options.

“It is great to be back, my ankle is fine now, I have healed completely and I’m ready to play. My main aim is to aid my team in every way possible to win. I am hopeful we will be doing better in the coming matches, we’ll see that we get to the top of the table,” Michael Odour told sofapaka.co ke shortly after Friday training in Eastleigh.

Goalkeeper George Opiyo and defender Edmond Kwanya are the other players still on the injury list through injuries and illness. The team will depart Nairobi for Nakuru on Saturday evening ahead of their round 19 encounter with Thika United. Both teams drew 0-0 in their last KPL meeting.
